Great Function, Horrible Chemical Smell

This jewelry box is a great size. The entire thing closes up like a purse, and it has a top handle that makes it super easy to carry. There is also a smaller travel-sized box that you can take out and put in your purse or suitcase.
Inside, the jewelry box has a top level for earrings and rings. I like that there are the "slots" with pre-punched holes for your stud earrings. The top mirror portion also flips down to reveal extra bracelet storage.
The only downside to this jewelry box is the horrible chemical smell, which I think is a byproduct of the fake leather. Although the description claims to be "real leather," I doubt that is accurate. Why do I say that? Because I have another Morelle jewelry box (the "Jackquilyn Small Leather Illuminated Box" style), and that box did not have the awful chemical smell, and also says "genuine leather" on the section right underneath the mirror. This one does not -- it says only "leather." Between that lettering difference and the chemical smell, I am not sure that this is made from "real" leather. The "leather" also feels much thinner than the leather on the Jackquilyn box.

Greatest Box Ever!!!

From the plush leathery feel, to its great many compartments, this box is great in every way. I now have all my jewelry and accessories stored in a single box. The box is stylish and adds a decorative twist to my bedroom decor.
I have had many jewelry boxes in the past, but none came close to beating this one in terms of, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and choice of compartments. For each of my accessories and jewelry pieces, regardless of shape or size, there seem to be a compartment specifically designed for that purpose.
I have since recommended it to two friends in the fashion industry, both keep on thanking me.
To summarize, this box exceeded my expectations on is workmanship, style, and utility.

Leather has a bad odor.

The design is very nice and looks like the image. However the leather has a bad odor that doesn't seem to improve with air circulation. This will be returned.
